Discovery Den School Policies

General Policies

1. Enrollment & Tuition

  • Enrollment is secured once all required forms are completed and the supply fee is paid.
  • Your child is registering to attend preschool for the full year: September 1, 2026 to May 13th, 2027.
  • Tuition is due in advance on the fifth of each month. Payments are not altered for weeks with less/more preschool days, they are simply an annual fee broken down into 9 monthly payments.
  • Tuition is to be paid in cash or via Venmo (@discoverydenpreschool).
  • Tuition is charged monthly and is not prorated for absences, holidays, illness, weather closures, or vacations.
  • Late payments may result in a late fee or loss of enrollment.

2. Attendance & Absences

  • Regular attendance is encouraged to help children feel secure and successful.
  • Parents should notify us as soon as possible if a child will be absent.
  • Tuition is not refunded for missed days.
  • Repeated or excessive absences may result in a review of enrollment.

3. Health & Illness Policy

To help keep all children safe and healthy, children must stay home if they have:

  • Fever (100.4°F or higher)
  • Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
  • Contagious illness (pink eye, strep throat, flu, etc.)
  • Severe coughing, unexplained rash, or other symptoms indicating illness

Children may return when they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours without medication.

Parents must inform us if their child has been diagnosed with a contagious illness.

4. Drop-Off & Pick-Up

  • Children must be dropped off and picked up on time.
  • Only authorized adults listed on enrollment forms may pick up a child.
  • Photo ID may be requested if we do not recognize the adult.
  • Late pick-ups may result in additional fees or loss of enrollment if repeated.

5. Safety & Supervision

  • Children are supervised at all times during preschool hours.
  • Our learning environment includes active play; minor scrapes or bumps may occur as part of normal play.
  • Parents acknowledge that reasonable risks are part of early childhood learning and agree not to hold the preschool liable for normal childhood injuries.

6. Behavior & Guidance Policy

We use positive, age-appropriate guidance and redirection.

  • Physical punishment, yelling, or shaming is never used.
  • We work with children to develop self-regulation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • If a child’s behavior consistently disrupts the learning environment or poses safety concerns, we will partner with parents to create a plan.
  • In rare cases, we reserve the right to terminate enrollment if we cannot safely meet a child’s needs.

7. Personal Belongings

  • Please label all personal items.
  • Toys from home should remain at home unless specifically requested.
  • We are not responsible for lost or damaged personal items.

8. Food & Allergies

  • Parents are responsible for providing any required snacks or meals unless otherwise stated.
  • All children should be sent to preschool each day with a water bottle.
  • Parents must inform us of all allergies and dietary restrictions.
  • While we take precautions, we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.

9. Illness, Injury & Emergency Care

  • Parents will be notified immediately in the event of injury or illness requiring attention.
  • Emergency services will be contacted if necessary.
  • Parents are responsible for all medical expenses.

10. Photography & Media

  • Photos or videos may be taken for classroom use or preschool promotion.
  • Children will only be included in public media with parental consent.
  • Parents may not photograph or record other children without permission.

11. Weather, Emergencies & Closures

  • We follow local weather and safety guidance.
  • Closures due to emergencies, illness, or unforeseen circumstances will be communicated promptly.
  • Tuition is not refunded for emergency closures.
  • 3 Unexpected closure days are included in the calendar.  Any days in excess of 3 will be scheduled for make ups.
  • The monthly newsletter will be the final word on the calendar for each month - what we have provided on the website is a tentative calendar at this time.

12. Termination of Enrollment

  • Parents may withdraw with written notice. There will be a penalty of your supply fee, one month's tuition and ($40 x the number of months left in the school year).
